Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol will get Ciaz and Ertiga’s 1.5-litre petrol engine with SHVS mild-hybrid technology
Maruti Vitara Brezza became the top-selling compact SUV in the Indian market within a very short span after its launch. Now, the Indo-Japanese automaker is gearing up to bring the Vitara Brezza petrol here. It is expected to launch here sometime in the mid-2019. The Vitara Brezza 2019 with petrol motor will come powered by a 1.5-litre engine combined with SHVS mild-hybrid technology. This same K15B petrol engine works under the hood of new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
A petrol hybrid for the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will certainly play a key role in enhancing its appeal further. Maruti Suzuki launched the Vitara Brezza with the tried and tested Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine only. Now, adding a petrol engine will put the Maruti compact SUV at par with the rivals. Pricing of the car will play a crucial role in it. It could be priced between Rs 6.5-9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza 2019 with petrol engine will come with the same design and features onboard, as the diesel-powered model. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to churn out similar power and torque output as it does for Ciaz and Ertiga. The engine is capable of churning out 103 bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. However, Maruti Suzuki might tune the engine to deliver more power and torque.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza 2019 will compete with tough rivals like Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and Hyundai Creta as well. A petrol engine will help the Vitara Brezza 2019 to beef up the competition. Compact SUV segment in India has seen high demand from the buyers. With the BS-VI emission norm coming in April 2020, demands for petrol models will increase significantly. Hence, the petrol variant of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza 2019 will play an important role for the brand.
