2018 is history now and we have stepped into a new year with new hopes in mind. The year 2018 has seen a lot of ups and down in the Indian car industry. Surely, 2019 will bring a lot of changes as well. One of them I wish is greater implementation of a greener cleaner mobility solutions.

India is among the most polluted countries in the world and a major number of pollutants comes from automobile emissions. Like the rest of the world, we are aiming to adopt zero-emission mobility solutions. But, the process is painstakingly slow. With the Happy New Year 2019 wish, I also wish more people come forward to zero-emission mobility.
The responsibility is not only the customers but on the government and automaker as well. The government should come forward to promote electric and greener mobility solutions with more incentives. The incentives should be given to those who buy electric cars and who sell those as well. The carmakers in the country should work in unison with other stakeholders to promote greener powertrain solutions.

A big problem for the growth of electric mobility in India is the lack of infrastructure. I hope there will be more initiatives from governments and automakers to set up EV charging stations. In a country with many villages still away from the basic power supply, it might sound overtly aspirant to the dream the all-electric mobility. In that case, the government should ensure a better power supply network.
To adopt the fully electric mobility in a better way, we should also focus on the hybrid powertrain technology. Indian car industry still lacks the availability of hybrid powertrain tech. I hope, the scenario improves in 2019. Local production of electric vehicle batteries has been a great factor for the high price of EVs in India. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing the government and carmakers coming forward to locally produce the EV batteries.
