New BMW X5 is larger and loaded with more technologies, will compete with Volvo XC90, Range Rover Sport
BMW has launched the 2019 BMW X5 in India that has been awaited for the last couple of months. The new BMW X5 is larger and loaded with new technologies. Available at a starting price of Rs 72.9 lakh (ex-showroom), the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 rivalling BMW X5 comes in three different trim options.
The trim options available for the BMW X5 include the xDrive 30d Sport, xDrive30d xLine and xDrive40i M Sport. The last two trims come priced at Rs 82.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Speaking about the appearance of the new BMW X5, it comes larger in dimension compared to the outgoing model. It is longer, wider, taller and has bigger wheelbase as well. This means the new BMW X5 offers more space and comfort besides having a stronger road presence.
The 2019 BMW X5 follows the same design theme as the contemporary models from the Bavarian auto giant. A larger kidney grille, new full-LED headlamps with angular appearance add zing to the car. The optional laser lighting system is available in this car. The luxury SUV blends subtle curves and straight lines perfectly, resulting in a squared-off styling. Rectangular LED taillights and powered split tailgate are the design elements visible at the back.

Based on the CLAR platform, the new version of this luxury SUV gets a fresh 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system inside the cabin. Its instrument cluster sports the latest version of iDrive. Head-up display, new Bower & Wilkins stereo system, speech recognition control, gesture control and a rear-seat entertainment system are there inside the cabin. It also comes with an optional third-row seating arrangement. It boasts a host of hi-tech systems and technologies to ensure a smooth riding experience.
The new X5 luxury SUV is available with one diesel engine and two petrol engine options. The diesel motor is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit churning out 261 bhp of power and 620 Nm of torque. There is a 3.0-litre turbocharged in-line six petrol engine generating 328 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque. All the engines are mated to 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive system.
