Hyundai Aura will be based on new Hyundai i10 Grand NIOS hatchback
The Korean automaker has teased a new compact sedan and it will be christened as Hyundai Aura. This compact sedan will replace the Hyundai Xcent in the company’s India lineup. Hyundai Aura is basically a three-box version of Hyundai’s recently launched i10 Grand NIOS.
The Aura will feature same front fascia, expect a little change to the front grille design (if Hyundai wanted to differentiate). What will be completely new is the rear part of the car. If everything goes good, we might see an exciting taillight design and bumper. Hyundai is also expected to integrate the boot perfectly with the hatchback part of the car.
Hyundai will offer Aura in 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre diesel engines. Both the engine options are in-line 4-cylinder configuration with 16-valve head. The Petrol engine will be BS6 whereas the Diesel will continue to be in BS4 disguise. The 1.2-litre petrol unit puts out 82bhp and 116Nm torque and will be mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Diesel engine, on the other hand, develops 74bhp and 190Nm torque and will come with only 5-speed manual gearbox.
Speaking about the features, we expect Hyundai to carry forward most of the features from the i10 Grand NIOS. However, there will be some changes to differentiate both the cars in the segment. We expect the warranty on the Aura will be similar to that of the NIOS hatchback.
The new Hyundai Aura will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor in the compact sedan segment. Hyundai will most probably launch the car in December or in January as a new year gift to the prospective customers.
