The VXi+ variant is around Rs 15,000 costlier than previous top variant of Alto 800
Maruti Suzuki launched the new top of the line variant of the Alto 800 with smartplay studio. The Alto 800 VXi+ variant is now available for Rs 3.80 lakh ex-showroom. A big change made is the inclusion of a 7.0-inch Smartplay studio touchscreen infotainment system. This system is also seen on other cars like S-Presso and WagonR.
The Alto 800 VXi received front power windows, central locking, a trip computer, keyless entry, two speakers as well as internally adjustable ORVMs. Smartplay studio Infotainment system also brings Android Auto and Apple Carplay support as well as USB/Bluetooth connectivity.
Safety-wise, Alto 800 comes with ABS with EBD, reverse parking camera, dual-airbags, speed alert system, and seatbelt reminder for driver and co-passenger.
Powering the Alto 800 is same age-old 796cc three-cylinder engine with 12-valve head. This BS6 compliant engine is good for 47.3bhp at 6000rpm and 69Nm torque at 3500rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. There is a factory-fitted CNG kit also available in the Alto 800 with a power output of 40.4bhp. Speaking about the fuel economy, the petrol variant returns 22.05kmpl and the CNG variant delivers 32.99 km per kg of CNG fuel.
It was only this year when Alto 800 received a facelift to keep things refreshed as long as possible. The facelift got a new grille, updated headlight as well as new bumper and side fenders. Now the addition of new features will increase the sales of top variants of the small hatchback. We expect Maruti to introduce the infotainment system in the Alto K10 too with some facelift features to bring it back into the market.
