Both petrol and diesel engines of Toyota Innova Crysta are now BS6 compliant, 2.8-litre diesel discontinued
Toyota Kirloskar Motors India has launched the BS6 version of its highest-selling vehicle in India, Innova Crysta. The new Toyota Innova Crysta BS6 gets cleaner emission norms in both petrol and diesel engine options. Prices for India’s largest selling full-size MPV starts from Rs 15.26 lakh till range-topping model arrives for Rs 24.06 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
The company also discontinued the bigger 2.8-litre diesel engine in a bid to limit the price of the top variants. In the BS6 iteration, the MPV has 2.7-litre petrol engine as well as 2.4-litre diesel motor. Prices for the petrol mill increased in the range of Rs 11,000 and Rs 43,000 while that of diesel has seen a steep hike ranging from Rs 39,000 to Rs 1.12 lakh.
The reason why diesel Innova Crysta comes will a steep price hike is that it employs a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). This full Exhaust Aftertreatment system comes with a cost but provides cleaner emissions without any reliability issue.

In the BS4 cycle, the 2694cc, 4-cylinder petrol unit delivered 164bhp at 5200rpm and 245Nm of twisting force to the MPV at 4000rpm. Diesel engine, on the other hand, displaces 2393cc with all its inline 4-cylinder configuration. This engine pumped out 148bhp at 3400rpm and 343Nm torque at merely 1400rpm. Both petrol and diesel engines are mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Speaking about the fuel efficiency, the petrol manual returns ARAI certified 11.25 kmpl while the diesel manual delivers 15.1 kmpl. With the automatic transmission, the fuel economy of the petrol engine drops down to 10.75 kmpl whereas diesel doesn’t show much fall in the fuel efficiency.
Innova Crysta comes with all top of the line premium and luxury features like leather seats, caption seats for the middle row, rear AC vents on the roof and much more.
Safety features include 7-airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic vehicle stability program, brake assist, hill-hold assist. Toyota is offering 3 years/1 lakh km warranty of the BS6 version of the Innova Crysta.
