The range topping AMG badged G63 comes sporting a completely redesigned exterior with a heavily loaded interior, compared to the previous version. The high performance luxury SUV has become even more capable off-roader and agile with a reworked suspension. It has become large and wider as well ensuring more space.
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG G63 is based on a wider ladder frame chassis and it gets a new aluminium body shell, which makes the SUV lightweight and agile at the same time. Dimensionally, the chassis has grown 210 mm in width and rear occupants get 150 mm of extra legroom. This makes sure, the occupants feel more comfortable with the redefined spaciousness. Thanks to an updated suspension, the ride quality has improved drastically. The SUV now gets a 241 mm of huge ground clearance.
Speaking about its design, the SUV boasts typical AMG styling elements like vertically slated aggressive front grille, matte-silver kick-plate at bumper, black bold mesh, 21-inch alloy wheels. The LED round shaped headlamps with circular LED daytime running lights adds zing to the SUV. Inside the cabin, the SUV gets the Mercedes Widescreen Cockpit at updated dashboard. The instrument cluster can be upgraded to fully digital. There is a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Power source of the SUV is a highly powerful 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine that replaces erstwhile 5.5-litre V8. The new engine is capable of churning out 577 bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 850 Nm of massive torque output between 2,500 and 3,500 rpm. Transmission duty is done by a new 9-speed automatic gearbox delivering power to all the four wheels. It can accelerate 0-100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds and top speed of the SUV is 220 kmph. There is a driver’s package available that enhances its performance capability further.
