Kia SP Concept based SUV will lock horns with Tata Harrier and Hyundai Creta after its launch in second half of 2019.
Kia SP Concept was one of the marvels at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo that grabbed everyone’s attention. The Hyundai subsidiary is now preparing to launch its first SUV in India based on the SP Concept and it will hit showrooms in second half of 2019. The SUV will lock horns with rivals like Hyundai Creta and upcoming Tata Harrier.
The automaker is yet to reveal the production model’s name, but we assume it could be christened as Trazor. Kia is very ambitious about its India venture and the SP Concept based SUV will play an instrumental role in that strategy. The Kia SP Concept based SUV will closely follow the design of the concept version.
The SUV will come with a squarish and sharp design. There will be Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille flanked by sharp headlamps featuring projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. Sporty large alloy wheels, attractive exterior colour options, sharp creases at side profile, LED inserts at the taillights will influence the overall design to become very appealing. Inside the cabin, the SUV will boast a large floating touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console that will get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There will be a dual-tone paint theme, upmarket leather upholstery.
Speaking about the mechanical bits, the upcoming SUV will share its underpinning with Hyundai Creta. Not only that, Kia would go for shared engine and transmissions as well in order to achieve competitive pricing. However power and torque output of this tried and tested engines would be different from the Hyundai Creta. So far, this is going to be a very interesting product in India upon arrival.
