Mahindra XUV700 will be sold through exclusive high-end showroom and it will be the brand’s new flagship model.
Mahindra XUV700 has been creating buzz for sometime and now the homegrown SUV specialist is ready to launch this big luxury SUV on November 19, 2018. Codenamed as Y400, the SUV was displayed at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo and garnered pretty good attention. This SUV shares platform and several components with the SsangYong Rexton, but carries a distinctive styling as well that goes in line with the automaker’s existing lineup.
What’s most interesting about this SUV, is Mahindra will sell the Y400 through an exclusive high-end showroom network. This strategy simply puts the XUV700 above the rest of the lineup. Also, Mahindra becomes the latest brand to adopt such strategy after Maruti Suzuki. Even another, homegrown automaker Tata Motors too announced such strategy.
The Mahindra XUV700 comes with an aggressive design infused by the bold and muscular vertically slated front grille, large alloy wheels, body cladding, flared wheel arches etc. The SUV boasts projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, large touchscreen infotainment system, Nappa leather upholstery, smart tailgate, 360-degree camera, wide range of safety features etc.
Power source for the upcoming SUV will be a 2.2-litre four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that is paired with a 7-speed transmission to channel the energy to all four wheels. This engine is capable of churning out 184 bhp of peak power and 420 Nm of peak torque. Expect the Mahindra XUV700 to get the AWD as an option in top trims only.
