New Honda CR-V dons fresh styling, new features and a diesel engine adding more muscle.
New Honda CR-V has been launched in India at a starting price tag of Rs 28.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Pricing goes up to Rs 32.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The fifth generation SUV locks horns with rivals like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour with its five and seven seater configurations. Making it more interesting is the diesel engine. Clearly, Honda has finally listened to the customers’ demand for a diesel motor. While the petrol variant is available in five-seater avatar, the diesel version gets seven-seater configuration.
New Honda CR-V looks more muscular and stronger from every angle. However, the sharpness is portrayed through the new LED headlamps and integrated LED daytime running lights. Apart from that, there is a new grille, updated bumpers and new taillights. The car looks like in motion even when it is standing still. While the old CR-V couldn’t fetch the success, the company hoped for, this new model is surely going to be a dealmaker.
The new Honda CR-V comes with many new things in terms of interior design that allows more comfort for the occupants and more improved ride quality. Not only space for the occupants, but for the luggage as well, there are plenty of room inside the cabin. Interestingly, the car gets its fuel tank at the front side. A dual-zone automatic climate control is there. There is a large 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that adds premium feel there. So far, the interior comes blending ergonomics and practicality with elegance. The instrument cluster shows various real time driving information.
For power source it gets a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.6-litre diesel motor for the first time. The diesel engine churns out 120 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. The new CR-V gets a 9-speed automatic transmission, which is a first in the segment and very lightweight. The petrol motor kicks out 154 bhp of power and 189 Nm of torque, which makes it a very capable SUV. The petrol engine gets CVT with paddle shifter. Both the engines come with good fuel efficiency. To make it a capable off-roader in need, the car gets high strength suspension, torque management system.
