Aston Martin DBX is the first SUV from the British brand in 106 years
The British luxury carmaker, Aston Martin has launched in the first SUV, the DBX. Aston Martin DBX is a 700Nm beast with sports-car dynamics and off-road versatility. The five-seater SUV is a 4×4 extreme off-road powered by an AMG sourced V8 fire-breather. Company is targeting to start deliveries in the international markets by March 2020.
In the past few years, the market sentiments all over the globe have shifted towards the SUVs. It is very well accepted thought in India that SUV have a greater road presence than the Sedans, Hence, SUV sales are a lot higher. Aston Martin had to launch an SUV in order to retain market share in the markets it is present. Even the big players like Lamborghini and Bentley also have SUVs in their lineup to attract SUV lovers.
Aston Martin DBX derives it propulsion force from a 4.0-litre AMG sourced V8 turbocharged petrol engine. This powerplant churns out massive 542bhp at 6500rpm and insane 700Nm of twisting force at 2200-5000rpm. All that thurst is sent to all four tyres by a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The gearbox features a shift-by-wire control system for sleek shifting.

The SUV has an amazing triple chamber air suspension system which can increase or decrease ride height by 45mm and 50mm respectively. DBX also features one of its kind electronic active anti-roll control system with 1400Nm of roll control. This exotic SUV rides on 22-inch alloy wheels which are fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres with 285/40 YR22 section at the front and 325/35 YR22 section at the rear.
Aston Martin DBX weighs in at 2245 kg which is certainly not light in any sense but is around 400 kg lighter than the rivals. To bring this 2+ ton madmax to a stop, 410mm ventilated discs are bitten by 6-piston aluminium callipers on the front wheels. At the rear are 390mm discs with sliding-piston callipers. brakes are supported by Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Auto park brake hold, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control as well as emergency brake assist. On the hilly areas, Roll-over Stability Control, Hill Start and Descent assist will help the drivers.

In terms of safety, the Aston Martin DBX gets Adaptive cruise control for those long rides, a speed limited, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep warning, lane change warning, rear cross-traffic warning, traffic sign recognition. Along with these features, there is a blind spot warning, door open warning, emergency call, 8-airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and status indicator, and ISOFIX child seat attachments.
The cockpit is occupied by a 12.3-inch driver information system. There is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto support. The sound system comprised of Aston Martin Premium 14 speakers with a total output of 800 watts.
Interior gets full-grain Caithness leather with Alcantara headlining & panoramic roof blind. Center console comes with Piano Black wood veneer trim. Both the front seats are 12-way adjustable with 3 position memory function. Not only this, but there is three-zone climate control for better creature comfort.
There is no word on whether and when the Aston Martin DBX will launch in India. As Lamborghini sold more than 50 Urus SUVs in the Indian market, DBX also has the potential of the same level.
