Kia Seltos is now on sale from Rs 9.69 lakh with all three BS6 engines
Kia Seltos is now on sale in the country with an introductory price starting from Rs 9.69 lakh ex-showroom. Not only that, Kia has managed to place the base diesel variant under Rs 10 lakh bracket. The Seltos is widely spread in 16 different variants with three engine options and choice of 4 different transmissions.
The company claimed that they have already received more than 35,000 bookings for Seltos. Not only that Kia has introduced all three of its versions in the list of BS6 engines. With the kind of pricing and the plethora of equipment on offer, the Seltos will definitely rule this segment.
Speaking about the design, the Seltos possess Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille. The headlights are automatic LED units with LED DRLs. Below you get to see a faux skid plate which adds to the visual appeal and aggression of the car. The rear has a chrome stip with Kia logo which connects the LED taillights.
You can choose from the two upholstery options in the Seltos. The Tech line is more focused towards providing luxurious feel with beige color seats with hexagonal pattern coupled with beige stitching. The GT line, on the other hand, will give to sporty feeling with its completely black theme with red color stitching.

A total of three engine options power the new Kia Seltos. There are two petrol engines and one diesel engine on offer. 1.5 liter in-line 4 cylinder engine makes 113bhp and 144Nm torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Moreover, if you are interested in an automatic transmission you can opt for the iVT (which is CVT in Kia’s terms). With the manual gearbox, the Seltos will deliver 16.5 kmpl and with iVT you’ll get 16.8 kmpl ARAI certified fuel efficiency.
The diesel engine is a 1.5 liter CRDi which is also a 4-cylinder engine and complies to BS6 norms. This powerplant makes 113bhp and 250Nm twisting force. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The manual diesel Seltos will get you 21 kmpl while the automatic diesel will only return 18 kmpl fuel economy.

Kia Seltos mileage ranges from 16.1 kmpl in Petrol to 21 kmpl for the Diesel variant
Kia has launched the Seltos in a sports variant with a 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine. This 4-cylinder in-line pumps out 138bhp and 242Nm which is pretty good for sporty driving. Not only that, but there is an option for DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) which will make drive hassle-free. The fuel efficiency you’ll get on the turbo petrol is 16.1 kmpl for manual and 16.5 kmpl with DCT.
Feature-wise, the Seltos is jam-packed. The Top HTX and GTX variants come equipped with a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which has support for Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Not to forget, the touchscreen also has Kia’s UVO connect suite which has about 37 features under five categories – Navigation, Safety and Security, Vehicle management, Remote control, and Convenience.

The leather upholstery, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, 8-speaker premium Bose sound system. There is also an in-built air purifier, cruise control, an HUD for the driver (Head-up Display), a 360-degree parking camera as well as ambient lighting. Safety is made sure by 6-airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, front and rear parking sensors along with blind-spot view monitor. Not to mention Kia Seltos comes with disc brakes at all corners for better braking performance.

Kia has already made 265 showrooms operational across the country in 160 cities. The company is offering a 3-year warranty with an add-on 2-year extended warrant on all Seltos variants. When we speak about the rivals, Kia Seltos will lock horns with Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks, and recently launched MG Hector. One can also argue that Jeep Compass is set to lose some customers in the near future.
