Mahindra Alturas G4 is the brand’s flagship model that comes redefining the premium SUV segment
Mahindra Alturas G4 has been one of the most talked about cars in India in last couple of weeks. Now, the much awaited SUV has been launched here at a starting price of Rs 26.95 lakh, ranging up to Rs 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This SUV is based on the fourth generation SsangYong Rexton and carries some typical Mahindra design elements. Also, this full size-seven-seater Mahindra flagship model targets the rivals like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The SUV comes redefining the premium SUV segment, as the homegrown automaker promised. What’s most interesting about this SUV is, the car will be sold through a new dealership network.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 appears with an aggressive and muscular front fascia that boasts vertically slated front grille flanked by HID projector headlamps, integrated LED daytime running lights, sculpted front bumpers and horizontal LED fog lamps. The skid plate emphasizes on the SUV’s off-roading capability. Moving to side profile, the SUV gets muscular fenders and cladding around the wheel arches, while it runs on 18-inch wheels. The wraparound taillights come with LED inserts adding more premiumness to the SUV.
Inside the cabin, Mahindra has designed the Alturas G4 to deliver a true premium experience. A multifunctional steering wheel loaded with control buttons, large instrument cluster with dual analog dials and large digital MID, a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system flanked by silver accented AC vents, dual zone climate control are there. The dashboard and upholstery materials come of premium quality adding zing to the cabin. Also, it offers generous space to the occupants. So far, Mahindra left no stones unturned in making the SUV a very appealing offering.
Speaking about the safety features, Mahindra Alturas G4 comes loaded with impressive 9 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill assist and descent control, 360 degree camera, reverse parking sensors etc. On the powertrain front, the SUV gets a 2.2-litre diesel engine under the hood that is coupled with a 7-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes-Benz. The engine churns out 178 bhp of peak power and 420 Nm of peak torque.
