Mahindra S201 launch will challenge Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport, shares platform with SsangYong Tivoli
Mahindra S201 launch is nearing and ahead of that, the brand has officially confirmed it to be christened as XUV300. The Mahindra XUV300 will challenge rivals like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. It shares the T100 platform with SsangYong Tivoli. The Mahindra S201 (XUV300) launch will mark the brand’s third sub-4 metre SUV roll out after the NuvoSport and TUV300.
Mahindra S201 has been in news for really long time. It is likely to go on sale in early February 2019. The Mahindra XUV300 carries signature Mahindra styling language. It boasts an aggressive front grille inspired by the new Mahindra XUV500. The headlamps too bear the resemblance and they sport projector units complemented by inverted L shaped LED daytime running lights.
The large air intake appears to be inspired by Mahindra NuvoSport. There is a chunky skid plate as well. The side profile features sporty alloy wheels, black body cladding, flared fenders. The styling here is typically similar to its bigger sibling, the XUV500. Rear gets a skid plate, LED taillights, a roof spoiler with integrated stop lamp.

The Mahindra XUV 300 interior comes with a dual-tone theme. It gets a layered dashboard. The touchscreen infotainment system at centre adds premium appeal. It houses Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Also, the cabin gets leather upholstery, automatic climate control, 7 airbags, reverse parking camera etc. So far, Mahindra has left no stones unturned in making the SUV interesting.

The Mahindra XUV300 will arrive in both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be a 1.2-litre G80 turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel motor. The diesel motor will churn out 120 bhp of peak power. The Mahindra XUV300 will get a 6-speed manual gearbox. No automatic unit will be offered initially. Expect the SUV to be priced from Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
