Benedict Cumberbatch has been spotted behind the wheel of India-bound MG Hector SUV during a TVC shoot
It seems like a million fans, MG India too has become Sherlocked. The British auto manufacturer is ready to enter Indian market soon with its cars and ahead of that, it has roped in English actor Benedict Cumberbatch of Sherlock fame. Benedict Cumberbatch has been spotted behind the wheel of India-bound MG Hector SUV.
Like the rest of the world, in India too Benedict Cumberbatch has a huge fan following, thanks to his Sherlock TV series and several big movies including the Avengers franchise. Speaking about his association with the iconic British car brand, the actor said, “I have grown up seeing and reading about MGB’s and MG Midgets, recognizing MG as a classic and iconic brand.” He also said that he is delighted to be a part of the new MG in India with the MG Hector.

Owned by Chinese group SAIC, MG Motors will be a completely new brand in India. Its first model in the country will be Hector. The MG Hector is basically a rebadged version of Baojun 530. In fact, all of the MG Motors’ portfolio comprises of Chinese models. MG will launch the Hector SUV in India in the second quarter of this year.
The brand is aiming to grab the attention of the buyers with a host of customer engagement programs and showcasing events. To achieve competitive pricing, MG India will locally produce cars in India. The cars will be locally manufactured the Halol plant of SAIC that was previously Chevrolet’s factory. Speaking about the MG Hector, it is likely to launch here in June 2019. The SUV will be priced at around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Apart from a beefy and stylish design, the MG Hector will come with a host of upmarket features onboard. It will be available in both manual and automatic gearbox options. The engine will be a 2.0-litre Fiat-sourced four-cylinder unit.
