New generation Honda CR-V is launching tomorrow in India with a host of changes and a new diesel engine. The SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 35-40 lakh (ex-showroom). The new generation Honda CR-V has been one of the most awaited models in the country for quite long time. It will lock horns with rivals like Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Tucson.
New generation Honda CR-V comes bigger and better than the outgoing SUV. What’s more interesting is the Japanese automaker has given priority to the Indian market’s demand for diesel engine. This move could prove to be a game-changer for the brand. Another significant change in strategy for the SUV is offering a seven seating option for the diesel model compared to the five seating petrol model.
Speaking about the diesel engine of the new generation CR-V, this 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine is capable of churning out 120 bhp of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 2.0-litre petrol engine is capable of kicking out 154 bhp of peak power and 189 Nm of torque. The petrol engine gets a CVT with paddle shifter, while the diesel motor gets a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
In terms of styling, the new generation Honda CR-V comes with a more butch look. It boasts new headlamps and revised grille. Alloy wheel design, taillight layout has been updated as well. Inside the cabin, it becomes more appealing with the new contemporary upmarket features.
